Do you recall the story of the little blue engine who had to carry the trainload of toys up over the hill for the Children's Christmas? "The Little Engine That Could"? That's what these Hiacinths, and Daffodils remind me of. They have had to battle wind, hail, rain, frozen ground, and a foot of snow on top of them over and over again. Some of them are bent, broken, bruised, and scarred...but rise they will! They are making the gardens a more beautiful place. It's a great lesson....whatever befalls us....we can press on and rise to the best that's within us and make the world a better place.
