Surprise in the mail

This little Dachshund ornament came in the mail today...addressed to my mother, who has been gone for 3 1/2 years. She gave the Danbury Mint lots of business with the things she collected. Dachshunds were among her treasures. This little ornament was a complementary gift because they would like to have her back as a customer!
I will be most pleased if they can get her back....in the meantime, I will purchase the other ornaments in this series for my tree.

  2. What a great reminder of your Mother.
Our tree has many ornaments that either tell a great story or hold a special memory. Great bokeh!

  4. How sweet and sad at the same time. Did it take your breath away to see a package addressed to her? I got a piece of mail addressed to my mom yesterday and it stopped me in my tracks for a few seconds...just when things seem a little easier, something like that comes along and punches me in the gut. I have to tell you though, I wonder if there was some divine intervention with this being sent to her/you since if it would have been any other breed or type of ornament, it wouldn't have had the significance...I can't help but wonder if she had something to do with it being sent to you. ((Hugs))

  5. Oh, whoa, Karren! That would both warm my heart and make me break down in tears at the same time. I agree with Kristin. Divine intervention. Thanksgiving turned out to have a similar effect on me this year. Fate had me both smiling and crying over my dad Thursday night.
