Day 124 A Closer Look

For years and years, I have hated the fact that the garden area is literally covered in weeds every Spring. Not just weeds, but horrid thorns. My 365 blog last year helped me to see things differently. This year, even more so. Last night, I went out when the sun peeked out for a few minutes, and grabbed a few shots of the weed blossoms. The tallest ones are only about 6" high, so I had to lie on the ground. I waited for the best possible light, and I think they are beautiful. Some of the tiny white blossoms look like miniature rose buds.

This little Dandilion gone to seed, is just breaking out, and waiting for the wind to carry the little seeds away. All these thoughts made me think about how quick we are to judge sometimes. How much better off we would be to always look for the beauty and the good in everyone, and everything. Even the bad things that happen to us can be good in the long run. Sickness brings appreciation for health, long winters like we just had, opens our eyes to the new life all around us. Within days, these little blossoms will be tilled under, and another planting will begin.

  1. Such a lovely post, Karren! Are you feeling well again from you accident? This post also made me think of my difficult day yesterday with my children. It does put light on how we need to see the good in the bad. Thanks!

  2. Oh, yes, the light is beautiful in these! I haven't gotten on the ground yet (sat on it but not laid down)--guess I'll have, too, to get such a nice perspective! LOL

  3. Oh goodness, your post on my blog brought tears to my eyes. A soft spot was hit with every word you said. It is so nice to have met you and to receive wise words of wisdom. My bad day was nothing compared to those who receive word of diagnosis. Thank you for putting things back into perspective.

  4. These are beautiful Karren. And you're very right-it's all a matter of perspective in how we see things.

  6. Isn't it so true that photography has really opened our eyes?
I'm jealous of everyone's "Weed" shots that I've been seeing- the soft flowers, bright light, beautiful focus, etc-- I wish I had weeds! (who thought anyone would *ever* say that?)
